APPLE PODCAST | SPOTIFY | YOUTUBE

Are you ready to design your future? As we step into 2025, now is the perfect time to reflect on who you want to be and what you want your life to look like. So, in this Five Minute Friday episode, we explore the power of vision boards—why they work, how they help you stay focused, and how to use them to turn your dreams into reality. Tune in to discover how a vision board can be the first step in creating the life you truly desire.

The Vision Board Effect: How to Design Your Dream Life

The Beginning of My Vision Board Journey

It all started in 2016 when I hired my first big business coach. That year was a turning point for me. I learned about mindset, affirmations, and the power of speaking my goals into existence. This journey led me to create my first vision board, and let me tell you—it was life-changing.

Here’s the simple truth about vision boards: what you focus on, you’ll find more of. It’s a principle rooted in books like The Secret and reinforced by countless experiences in my life. Whether it’s noticing more black Yukons on the road when you’re thinking about buying one, or appreciating the kind words of a loved one when you focus on them, what you give attention to grows.

Vision Boards: More Than Just Achievements

A common misconception about vision boards is that they’re all about material goals or achievements. But I’ve learned that the real power lies in focusing on who you want to be and how you want to live. It’s about aligning your vision with your values and letting everything else flow from there.

For example, my vision board isn’t just about vacations or financial goals (though those are great!). It includes:

  • Affirmations and words that inspire me to be my best self.
  • Health and wellness goals—reminders to focus on habits like daily movement and drinking more water.
  • Motivational phrases, like a comment someone once made about my business: “Good luck with your little project.” That phrase now fuels my drive every day.
  • Personal priorities, like being a loving spouse, a present mom, and a woman of faith.

How to Create Your Vision Board

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to vision boards. Some people prefer physical boards with images and words pinned to a corkboard. Others use digital tools to create vision boards for their phone or computer screens. The key is to put it somewhere you’ll see it every day—it needs to be a constant reminder of your goals and values.

Here’s a simple process to get started:

  1. Reflect on your goals and values. Think about who you want to be, how you want to live, and what you want to achieve.
  2. Gather visuals and words. Cut out images from magazines, print pictures, or use digital tools to find words and visuals that resonate with you.
  3. Organize your board. Place your most important goals and affirmations in the center, with supporting visuals around them.
  4. Make it visible. Whether it’s on your office wall or your phone screen, make sure you see your vision board daily.

My Vision Board in Action

I’ve seen incredible results from vision boards. In 2016, I added a beach vacation to my board. By September, my husband Eric and I were on a company-sponsored trip to Mexico—a first for both of us. I also included a goal to support foster families, and that same year, our business connected with an employee who became a foster parent.

These weren’t coincidences—they were the result of keeping my goals front and center, staying open to opportunities, and taking intentional steps to make them happen.

Make It a Team Effort

Vision boards aren’t just for individuals. They can be a family or team project. Eric and I create individual boards every year and involve our kids in the process. It’s a chance to dream together, align our priorities, and teach our kids the power of visualization.

You can also create vision boards with your team at work. A shared vision board for your business can help align your team’s goals, keep everyone motivated, and create a sense of collective purpose.

Ready to Dream Big?

Whether it’s a vacation, a financial milestone, or becoming the best version of yourself, vision boards are a powerful way to bring your dreams to life. If you’ve never created one, there’s no better time to start. And if you have questions or need guidance, reach out—I’d love to help you along the way.

Remember: what you focus on, you’ll find more of. Let your vision board be a daily reminder of where you’re headed and the amazing life you’re creating.

Here’s to your best year yet!
