Welcome back, everyone! This week, we’re thrilled to have Sarah Burks with us, a familiar face in the retail community. Today, we’re diving into one of our favorite topics: Pink Friday. With the busiest seasons in retail upon us, we’re gearing up for an exciting and impactful event.
Pink Friday 2024: The Shop Small First Movement
What is Pink Friday?
Born out of a need to give small businesses their moment in the spotlight, Pink Friday was launched in 2020. The aim was simple: to drive consumers towards small businesses before the frenzy of Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. It’s a day dedicated to celebrating and supporting the lifeblood of our communities—small businesses.
Pink Friday, held the Friday before Black Friday, encourages consumers to recognize the importance of small businesses, whether they are brick-and-mortar, online, or pop-ups. It’s a day to celebrate the vibrant, hardworking small business owners and their contributions to our communities.
Celebrating Five Years of Pink Friday
As we mark the fifth year of Pink Friday, it’s incredible to reflect on its journey. The event began in the tumultuous year of 2020, celebrating the resilience of small businesses. Today, it’s a testament to the spirit of community over competition, with small business owners nationwide collaborating and thriving together.
On November 22, Pink Friday will see boutique owners and small businesses of all types participating in unique, collaborative events. Social media will be awash with the vibrant color pink, symbolizing the unity and spirit of small business owners. Expect to see boutique crawls, community collaboration events, and much more, involving diverse businesses from restaurants to floral shops.
The Power of Community and Collaboration
Pink Friday isn’t just about sales; it’s about celebrating the essence of small businesses. Imagine a lively birthday party atmosphere with balloons, decor, cookies, champagne, and exclusive collections. It’s a day for customers to connect with the local businesses that support their communities year-round.
The pandemic highlighted the void left when small businesses couldn’t operate as usual. Pink Friday reminds us of their critical role in our lives and why they deserve our support.
Leveraging PR for Small Business Success
Ashley emphasizes the importance of PR and building relationships with local media. Many stores have successfully garnered media attention, from news segments to women’s magazines. These relationships validate the businesses and amplify their stories to a broader audience. For those new to media outreach, Pink Friday offers a perfect opportunity to start building these valuable connections.
How to Participate in Pink Friday
Participation in Pink Friday is open to all small businesses. It’s simple and free to join. Just head to the Boutique Hub website, register, and receive a comprehensive success toolkit. This toolkit includes Canva templates, event planning checklists, marketing tips, and discounts on event essentials like balloons and decor.
Wholesale brands can also participate, offering special deals and bundles through Hubventory, enhancing the Pink Friday experience for both retailers and customers.
The Pink Friday Map: A Tool for Shoppers and Businesses
A key feature of Pink Friday is the interactive map on shopthebestboutiques.com. This map highlights participating businesses, making it easy for consumers to find and support local boutiques. It’s a tool for shoppers and a validation for businesses, showcasing their legitimacy and involvement in the community.
