How do you go from shaping careers to reshaping the fashion industry for plus-size women? Just ask Tracy Christian, the visionary founder of Sante Grace! She joins the show today to share her remarkable journey from talent agent to luxury plus-size apparel designer. Her story is not just about launching a brand—it’s about challenging industry norms and filling a much-needed gap in the market with high-quality, sustainable clothing that truly empowers women of all shapes and sizes.

What Retailers Need to Know About Serving the Plus Size Market

Luxury Fabrics Aren’t Fragile — They’re Powerful

One misconception Tracy is passionate about debunking is the idea that luxury fabrics are delicate and impractical.
“When we go into a tomb and a mummy is wrapped in linen that’s survived 2,500 years, now you tell me linen is delicate?” Tracy points out.
The truth is, natural fabrics like silk and linen are incredibly durable, breathable, and better for your skin. Not only do they last, but they elevate the way you feel.
“I like it when my man touches me and I have silk on,” Tracy shared with a laugh. “It feels good to him too. It feels great to me.”

Luxury fashion isn’t about being fussy — it’s about feeling incredible. Tracy reminds women that we’re not just selling clothing; we’re selling confidence. Putting on a beautiful garment should make you feel unstoppable, like your favorite style icon.

Clothing Should Fit You — Not the Other Way Around

Tracy challenges another outdated belief in fashion: that women should be shrinking themselves to fit into clothes.
“We shouldn’t be changing our bodies to accommodate the clothing. The clothing should be accommodating us,” she says.

The idea that being plus-sized is temporary, or that everyone is trying to look smaller, is a myth Tracy is passionate about dismantling.
“I’m not trying to look skinny. I’m trying to look great,” she affirms.
It’s time to stop suffering through Spanx and uncomfortable shapewear just to squeeze into a certain look. As Tracy hilariously describes it, “You look like a size 16 suffocating.” Instead, she advocates for embracing clothes that fit your body well, feel good, and allow you to move through life with ease and grace.

Natural fabrics like silk aren’t just luxurious; they’re practical. They breathe, they insulate, and they move with your body. “You can wear something beautiful, feel amazing all day, and just spritz it, hang it back in your closet, and wear it again. That’s the way to live,” Tracy says.

Selling Confidence, Not Just Clothes

Ashley summed it up perfectly: at the end of the day, it’s not about the product — it’s about the belief it represents.
When a woman puts on a dress, it’s not the dress she’s buying. It’s the feeling of confidence, beauty, and power she gets from wearing it.

Every boutique owner, fashion entrepreneur, and woman in business can take a page from Tracy’s book. Sell the transformation, not the product. Celebrate every body, every stage of life, and make your customers feel seen and valued — not pressured to change.

Collaboration Over Competition: A Mindset for Success

Beyond fashion, Tracy is a strong advocate for lifting others up — especially women and small business owners. She lives the Boutique Hub’s motto of “Community Over Competition” daily.

“Collaboration happens at the top. Competition is at the bottom,” Tracy says, recalling when she first discovered The Boutique Hub.
Building relationships, sharing knowledge, and creating opportunities for others is what sets true leaders apart. It’s not about hoarding success — it’s about multiplying it through community.

In Tracy’s world, confidence is queen, comfort is non-negotiable, and collaboration is the true currency of success.
It’s a message we can all carry forward — not just in our closets, but in our businesses, our communities, and our lives.
